ANA to Greatly Reduce Kansai Airport Flights from March 29
Air Canada will launch a Sapporo/New Chitose – Vancouver route on December 17.
The airline will operate three round-trip flights per week, departing Sapporo/New Chitose on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and departing Vancouver on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The route will be operated with Boeing 787 aircraft and is scheduled to run until March 26, 2027.
Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer / President, Cargo, commented, “We are very pleased to be able to launch a new nonstop service connecting Sapporo and Vancouver. This will not only make it more convenient for customers in Hokkaido to access North America, but also allow for smooth connections via Vancouver to destinations across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. We expect this route, timed to capture winter travel demand, to be used by many customers. Vancouver is a hub airport with easy access to major cities on the west coast of North America. With the new nonstop service from New Chitose, travel time will be reduced by more than 120 minutes compared to previous options, enabling us to offer a more comfortable journey. Air Canada will continue to work on expanding its network in the Japanese market.”
This will be the only nonstop service linking Hokkaido and North America, offering connections in Vancouver to more than 45 cities across North America. The route is aimed at both business and leisure travelers. Air Canada currently operates year-round flights to Tokyo/Haneda and Tokyo/Narita, and a summer seasonal service to Osaka/Kansai.
