Air India will open its first flagship lounge, the “Maharaja Lounge,” at Delhi International Airport on February 16.
The lounge spans 16,000 square feet and can accommodate around 300 guests. It is divided into separate Business and First Class lounges and features the “Crystal Bar,” a contemporary-style bar that incorporates traditional Indian motifs; the “Aviators Bar,” inspired by the historic 1932 flight by J.R.D. Tata from Karachi to Bombay (now Mumbai); the “Globe Trotters Study” workspace; and a “Serenity Area” equipped with reclining chairs. Artworks that weave a unique narrative celebrating India’s rich culture and traditions are also displayed.
From the seating and dining area of the First Class lounge, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the runway. A specially designed “Sleep Suite” will also be available to provide a more comfortable rest.
In addition to a dining area where guests can enjoy Indian cuisine and dishes from around the world, including a live cooking station, the lounge will offer a unique “Beverage on Wheels” service and introduce a “Tea Program” that pays tribute to Indian beverages.
This lounge is the first in a new series of next-generation lounges that Air India plans to open gradually across India and in other parts of the world to enhance the customer experience. The concept was created by the global design studio Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA). Exclusive Maharaja-design postcards that guests can take home as souvenirs will also be available.
The lounge is located in the international pier of Terminal 3. Eligible users include Maharaja Club Gold and Platinum members, as well as Star Alliance Gold members.
