JR East to Revise Fares in March 2026 with a 7.8% Increase, Application Approved
JR East (East Japan Railway Company) will expand its shareholder benefits program starting from the next issuance, which is scheduled to be sent out in late June.
A new benefit will be introduced that gives shareholders a 5% discount at all times on purchases at the in-station convenience store chain “NewDays.” By registering as a member on the “NewDays App” and entering the required information into a dedicated form, a coupon will be displayed within the app. The benefit will be available until June 2027.
In addition, JR East will add three 100-yen coupons for “Kinokuniya,” a supermarket operated by the JR East Group, as well as coupons for free advance reservation and free hotel delivery for the multifunction lockers “Multi Ecube.”
Existing benefits will also be revised. The JEXER preferential use ticket will have its usage fee reduced to 500 yen per visit. The highway bus discount tickets will be expanded to cover the Shinjuku–Saku/Komoro line and the Shinjuku/Tokyo–Tateyama line. For STATION WORK use coupons, member registration will become mandatory, and reservations will be limited to directly managed booths and desks, with an additional coupon offering 50% off for one hour. The Re.Ra.Ku relaxation service discount ticket will be usable as a weekday 50% off coupon on the first visit.
The newly established benefits, along with the shareholder preferential accommodation vouchers, restaurant and bar discount coupons, and station rental car discount coupons, will be offered exclusively as “electronic shareholder service coupons.”
JR East will also revise the issuance criteria for shareholder service coupons, lowering the threshold so that shareholders holding at least 100 shares become eligible. The medical checkup (comprehensive health screening) discount coupon will be issued to shareholders holding at least 2,000 shares.
