JR East to Abolish Kururi Line Section Between Kururi and Kazusa-Kameyama in Chiba
East Japan Railway Company (JR East) will abolish the section of the Kururi Line between Kururi Station and Kazusa-Kameyama Station in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
The average number of passengers passing between these two stations was 55 per day as of 2021. Following discussions with Kimitsu City and Chiba Prefecture, the company had expressed its intention to discontinue the service. At the Kimitsu City Regional Public Transportation Council held on December 22, 2025, a bus substitution service plan, formulated based on the opinions received at residents’ briefing sessions, was reported. JR East also announced that it would cover the operating and management costs of the substitute bus service for 18 years.
After submitting a notification of the abolition of this railway business within fiscal year 2025, JR East plans to discontinue the section in April 2027.
