Starlux Airlines launched its Shimojishima–Taichung route on February 13.
The airline operates two round trips per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. The route is served by an Airbus A321neo configured with a total of 188 seats, including 8 in Business Class and 180 in Economy Class. The flight time is 1 hour 25 minutes from Shimojishima to Taichung, and 1 hour 15 minutes from Taichung to Shimojishima.
To mark the arrival of the inaugural flight, the aircraft was greeted with a water salute. In addition, the Shimojishima Airport Revitalization Council welcomed passengers with a traditional Okinawan sanshin performance and commemorative gifts.
As a result, there are now three international routes serving Shimojishima Airport, including Jin Air’s Seoul/Incheon route.
