Turkish Airlines has unveiled a special livery aircraft, the “TK Family,” to commemorate reaching a fleet size of 500 aircraft.
The aircraft, an Airbus A350-900 received at the end of 2025, is decorated with photographs of 100,000 current and former employees.
The ceremony held on February 12 at Istanbul Airport was attended by bereaved children and family members of fallen heroes representing all 81 provinces of Türkiye, as well as cast members from the commercial “Iğdır (When You Dream),” released in 2014 and filmed with 247 aircraft in 247 cities.
In addition, the commemorative special flight was operated as flight TK500, drawing the number “500” in the sky with the same type of aircraft. Children and families of the fallen, Turkish Airlines executives, former executives, and employees were on board.
Founded in 1933 as Türkiye’s flag carrier, the airline began operations with a fleet of five aircraft. Its 100th aircraft was introduced in August 2006, the 200th in November 2012, the 300th in February 2016, and the 400th in March 2023. The airline currently operates 523 aircraft including freighters, serving 356 cities in 132 countries worldwide. It aims to expand its fleet to 1,000 aircraft by 2036.
