Japan Airlines (JAL) and Japan Transocean Air (JTA) will maintain the current level of the fuel surcharge for international flights for tickets issued from April onward.
The airlines stipulate that the fuel surcharge is levied based on the amount obtained by converting the two‑month average market price of Singapore kerosene for aviation fuel into Japanese yen using the two‑month average foreign exchange rate. The market price of Singapore kerosene from December through January 2026 averaged 84.26 US dollars per barrel, and the exchange rate was 156.27 yen to 1 US dollar, resulting in 13,166 yen when converted into Japanese currency.
For itineraries originating in Japan with tickets issued between April 1 and May 31, the one‑way surcharge will be 3,000 yen for routes to South Korea, the Russian Far East, and Okinawa/Naha–Taipei/Kaohsiung; 7,400 yen for East Asia routes excluding South Korea and Mongolia; 9,500 yen for Guam, Palau, the Philippines, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Russia (Irkutsk); 15,500 yen for Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and Russia (Novosibirsk); 18,500 yen for Hawaii, Indonesia, India, and Sri Lanka; and 29,000 yen for North America (excluding Hawaii), Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania.
