Kotohira Bus will begin operating the “Kotobus Express Fukui, Kanazawa, Toyama Route” from February 19.
The company will operate one round trip per day on a highway bus connecting Kagawa and Tokushima prefectures in Shikoku with Fukui, Ishikawa (Kanazawa) and Toyama in the Hokuriku region of Japan. On the outbound route, the bus departs KS Kotohira at 7:18 p.m., arriving at Fukui Station at 5:30 a.m., Kanazawa Station at 6:50 a.m., and Toyama Station at 8:10 a.m. the following day. On the return route, it departs Toyama Station at 8:15 p.m., Kanazawa Station at 9:35 p.m., and Fukui Station at 11:10 p.m., arriving at KS Kotohira at 9:52 a.m. the following day.
En route, the bus stops at Konpira Sando-guchi (approach to Kotohira-gu Shrine), Utazu Station South Exit South, Takamatsu Station, KS Takamatsu, Takamatsu-Chuo IC North, Kosoku Miki (Miki Expressway stop), Kosoku Shido, Kosoku Tsuda, Kosoku Ouchi, Kosoku Hiketa, Tokushima Station, and KS Naruto Interchange. At Naruto Interchange, a shuttle connection is provided to and from the Matsuyama and Kochi areas, enabling smooth transfers from across the Shikoku region of Japan.
The service uses coaches equipped with three rows of independent seats and onboard toilets. The regular adult fare between Kagawa/Tokushima and the Hokuriku region starts from 7,200 yen. Various discount fares are available, including early-bird discounts, value discounts (last-minute and same-day), round-trip discounts, student discounts, child discounts, and discounts for passengers with disabilities.
As for highway buses connecting Shikoku and the Hokuriku region, JR Shikoku Bus and other operators launched the jointly operated “Hokuriku Dream” service in June 2019, but it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was officially discontinued in November 2023.
