
ANA and Pokémon to Launch Three Special “Pokémon Jet” Aircraft in Japan This Year
Japan Airlines (JAL)’s 11th Airbus A350-1000 aircraft (registration: JA11WJ) departed Toulouse, France, on February 27 local time. It is scheduled to arrive at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on the morning of February 28.
The Airbus A350-1000 is JAL’s new international flagship aircraft, introduced as the successor to the current mainstay for international routes, the Boeing 777-300ER. The cabin is configured with 239 seats in four classes: 6 First Class seats in a 1-1-1 layout, 54 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout, 24 Premium Economy Class seats in a 2-4-2 layout, and 155 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout. Both First Class and Business Class feature, for the first time at JAL, enclosed suites with doors. Inflight entertainment (IFE) offers 4K-resolution monitors in all classes, and passengers can connect wireless earphones via Bluetooth.
A total of 13 aircraft of this type have been ordered. The first aircraft arrived at Haneda Airport on December 15, 2023, followed by the second on January 15, 2024, the third on March 31, the fourth on August 1, the fifth on August 11, the sixth on October 3, the eighth on December 7, the ninth on January 30, 2025, the seventh on April 24, and the tenth on July 18. Commercial operations began on January 24, 2024, and the aircraft now serves routes from Japan to New York, Dallas, London, Paris, and Los Angeles.
