Radisson Hotel Group has established a development base in Japan.
The group has opened a representative office in Tokyo and appointed Kunio Iwai as Head of Development for the Japanese market. Mr. Iwai has previously worked for Shangri-La, Hyatt, Ishin Hotels Group, and Lone Star Group, and most recently served as Vice President of Development & Planning at Anoma Hospitality Group.
Mr. Iwai commented, “Japan is a market where meticulous attention to detail, consistency, and relationships of trust are of utmost importance. My mission is to build long-term partnerships with Japanese owners and investors and to develop hotels over the long term while meeting Japan’s high standards. By basing ourselves in Tokyo, we can provide rapid, locally anchored support and assist our partners at every stage.”
Radisson Hotel Group is a Belgium-based hotel chain. It was established in Denmark in 1960 as the hotel division of Scandinavian Airlines. The group operates more than 10 brands, including Radisson Collection, and manages over 1,600 hotels in more than 100 countries.
In Japan, the group previously partnered with Miyako Hotels & Resorts and operated the Radisson Hotel Narita until 2016. However, after the hotel’s owner, Delta Air Lines, sold the property, Radisson no longer operates any hotels in Japan.
