Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issues Warning Following US–Israel Attacks on Iran
In light of the situation in the Middle East, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan is encouraging people to register with the overseas travel registration system “Tabi-Regi” and to submit a Notification of Overseas Residence.
In the event of an emergency, the authorities will confirm the safety of travelers through “Tabi-Regi” and the Notification of Overseas Residence. It is also possible to additionally register family members in Japan, people at one’s workplace, and others.
From the perspective of ensuring thorough protection of Japanese nationals in the entire region including countries surrounding Iran, understanding the situation of sea and air routes, and providing information to relevant parties, overseas diplomatic missions are currently sending out, as needed, up-to-date local safety information and the latest information on flight operations to “Tabi-Regi” registrants and those who have submitted a Notification of Overseas Residence and are traveling in Middle Eastern countries around Iran.
“Tabi-Regi” is a system intended for travelers staying less than three months, in which they register their planned stay at the destination so that the information can be used to provide travel advisories and respond in case of emergencies. Registration is voluntary. Those staying for three months or longer are required to submit a Notification of Overseas Residence.
