Air Tahiti Nui will launch a new Papeete–Sydney route on December 14.
The airline will operate two round trips per week, on Mondays and Thursdays. The flight time will be between 8 hours 35 minutes and 8 hours 50 minutes from Tahiti, and between 6 hours 55 minutes and 7 hours 15 minutes from Sydney.
French Polynesia welcomed approximately 279,000 tourists in 2025, of which more than 8,000 traveled from Australia. The airline positions the launch of this route as part of efforts to strengthen connectivity with major hub airports in the South Pacific region. This will be the first-ever nonstop service linking Tahiti and Australia.
