Rakuten Travel Launches “Toku Tabi Campaign” Offering Up to 15x Points on Domestic Stays in Japan
H.I.S. (HIS), a major travel agency in Japan, has revealed that some cancellations have occurred on tours to Europe via the Middle East.
The share of these tours in the company’s total transaction volume is small, and demand for major destinations such as Asia, North America, and Hawaii remains steady. Because of this, HIS says it is proactively making alternative proposals, shifting customers from Middle Eastern routes to other destinations.
In its hotel business, cancellations have been reported at properties in Uzbekistan, Turkey, and New York, but there has been no noticeable impact in other areas such as Taiwan. Within the Kyushu Sanko Group, while close attention is being paid to fluctuations in diesel prices, current procurement unit prices remain within planned levels. The impact on business performance is expected to appear from the second quarter (February–April) onward.
At this stage, the company has suspended, through March 31, the operation of tours to regions where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has issued an overseas safety alert of Level 2 or higher, as well as tours transiting through Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
