H.I.S. (HIS), a major travel agency in Japan, has completed repayment of the Employment Adjustment Subsidies that were improperly received by its subsidiaries.
According to an investigation by a special investigation committee, among the 29 group companies that received the subsidies, 15 companies including HIS were found to have committed “improper receipt” due to unintentional application errors, while 3 companies were found to have engaged in intentional “fraudulent receipt.” Investigations by the Labor Bureaus that have jurisdiction over each company have all been completed, and repayment of the notified amounts has been finalized.
At Cruise Planet and Number One Travel Shibuya, where the fraudulent receipt was uncovered, it was confirmed that the actions were carried out under instructions from executives. In the case of Europe Express, it was determined that there were no instructions from executives.
