China Eastern Airlines will launch a Shanghai/Pudong–Tashkent route on March 30.
The airline will operate four round trips per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The aircraft will be an Airbus A330-200. The flight time is 7 hours 55 minutes from Shanghai/Pudong and 6 hours 30 minutes from Tashkent.
This will be the only nonstop service connecting Shanghai and Tashkent. From mainland China to Tashkent, Uzbekistan Airways currently operates flights from Beijing and Shenzhen, while China Southern Airlines and Qanot Sharq Airlines operate from Guangzhou.
China and Uzbekistan have implemented mutual visa exemption measures. As part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, this route will enhance connectivity between China and Central Asia.
