Lufthansa Group Suspends Flights to Middle East Cities Including Dubai and Tel Aviv
All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Singapore Airlines have applied to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) for an exemption from the application of Malaysian competition law.
The two airlines signed a joint business agreement on April 17, 2025. The target markets are Japan, Singapore, Australia, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, and they will jointly conduct commercial activities such as fares, sales, marketing, network development, and scheduling.
In their application, the carriers state that the joint business will improve operational efficiency and enhance connectivity, thereby benefiting users by expanding the range of options and offering competitive fares. They also note that overlap between the two airlines’ services in Malaysia is limited, making it unlikely that the agreement will have any significant adverse impact on competition.
On routes between Japan and Malaysia, ANA operates flights between Tokyo/Haneda and Tokyo/Narita and Kuala Lumpur. Singapore Airlines does not operate any direct flights on these routes.
CAAM is accepting public comments until April 1.
