United Airlines Unveils New Guam-Based Boeing 737-8 Fleet, Replacing 737-800s by Year-End
Japan Airlines (JAL) has unveiled new seats for its Boeing 737-8 aircraft.
A new First Class cabin will be introduced, and First Class service will be offered on all of JAL’s domestic routes within Japan.
The First Class seats are equipped with adjustable headrests and footrests, as well as electric reclining. USB-A/C power outlets, a bi-fold table, and a tablet holder are also provided.
The standard Economy Class seats are manufactured by Recaro Aircraft Seating and feature a tablet holder and USB-A/C power outlets. They are slimline seats and also offer a reclining function.
The Boeing 737-8 aircraft are scheduled to be delivered in fiscal year 2026 and to begin operations in fiscal year 2027. They will succeed the Boeing 737-800 currently used on JAL’s domestic network in Japan. JAL placed firm orders for 21 aircraft in March 2023 and 17 aircraft in March 2025. This is the first time in 18 years that JAL has ordered a new Boeing model. The airline has also decided to introduce Intelsat’s multi-orbit in-flight connectivity service.
Thanks to new engines and improved aerodynamics, the Boeing 737-8 is expected to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by approximately 15 percent compared to the current Boeing 737-800.
