
Lufthansa Group Suspends Flights to Middle East Cities Including Dubai and Tel Aviv
Air Canada and Jazz Aviation announced that at around 11:47 p.m. on March 22, Air Canada flight AC8646 from Montreal to New York/LaGuardia (CRJ900 aircraft, registration: C-GNJZ) was involved in an accident during landing.
The flight was operated by Jazz Aviation as Air Canada Express under Air Canada’s flight number. There were 76 people on board in total, consisting of 4 crew members and 72 passengers.
According to some media reports and posts on social media, the aircraft is believed to have collided with a moving vehicle during landing, causing severe damage to the front section of the airframe. The captain and first officer were killed, 4 people were seriously injured, and dozens of others sustained minor injuries. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation.
Due to the impact of this accident, New York’s LaGuardia Airport was temporarily closed.
