London City Airport Proposes Change to Landing Approach Angle, Invites Public Comments
The Lufthansa Group and Munich Airport will expand Terminal 2 at Munich Airport.
The terminal will be expanded with a “T-shaped pier” that will connect perpendicularly to the eastern side of the satellite facility, with opening planned for 2035. Annual handling capacity will increase by 10 million passengers. The Lufthansa Group will expand the deployment of aircraft for long-haul routes.
The two parties began their partnership in the early 1990s and launched a joint venture in conjunction with the opening of Terminal 2 in 2003. The operating company is owned 60% by Munich Airport and 40% by the Lufthansa Group.
Terminal 2 is used exclusively by the Lufthansa Group and its partner airlines, and is appreciated for its short walking distances, convenient transfers, and bright, modern atmosphere. Its initial annual handling capacity was 25 million passengers, and the opening of the satellite facility in April 2016 added a further 11 million. Passenger numbers in 2025 are expected to reach 32 million, bringing operations close to the terminal’s capacity limit.
