ANA and Singapore Airlines Apply to Malaysian Regulator for Antitrust Exemption on Joint Business
United Airlines will introduce the “United Relax Row,” which allows passengers to use a set of three economy class seats in a fully flat configuration.
The three adjacent seats’ footrests can be raised to a horizontal position, allowing the space to be used like a bed. The offering includes a mattress pad, an extra-large blanket, two additional pillows, a stuffed toy for children, and a kids’ travel kit for families. It is intended for families traveling with children, couples, and solo travelers who want more personal space. The service will be available after take-off.
Up to 12 such sections per aircraft will be installed between premium economy and economy class. Service will begin in 2027, and by 2030 it will be rolled out on more than 200 aircraft, including Boeing 787 and Boeing 777 jets.
United Airlines says it holds exclusive rights to the design in North America. A similar product was first introduced globally by Air New Zealand as the “Skycouch,” and All Nippon Airways (ANA) has introduced its own version, “ANA COUCHii,” on Airbus A380 aircraft.
