KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and gategroup have reached an agreement on the acquisition of KLM Catering Services (KCS) by gategroup.
gategroup will acquire 75% of the shares of KCS, while KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will continue to hold the remaining stake. The transaction is subject to consultations with the labor unions of KCS and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, as well as approval by the relevant authorities.
This initiative is part of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ business improvement program “Back on Track.” It aims to create future investment opportunities for KCS while ensuring that KLM remains deeply involved in its in-flight services. KCS will maintain employment and will establish a new facility incorporating the latest technology at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.
KCS is an in-flight catering company that has been in operation for more than 80 years. It employs over 1,300 people and supplies more than 55,000 meals per day to approximately 350 flights. The company operates 82 catering trucks.
