Air BP Italy Restricts Fuel Supply at Four Airports During Easter Holiday Demand Surge
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) opened the new rental car center at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on March 11.
The project is part of the US$5.5 billion “Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP),” which aims to ensure a seamless travel experience for visitors ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Covering approximately 595,000 square meters, it is the second-largest concrete structure in the United States after the U.S. Department of Defense (the Pentagon). Construction began in September 2019, and three brands—Avis, Budget, and Payless—relocated there ahead of others in October 2024.
The facility consolidates 12 companies that operate at the airport: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Fox, Hertz, National, Payless, Sixt, Thrifty, and Zipcar. It is an integrated facility where refueling, car washing, and light maintenance can all be performed, contributing to improved vehicle turnaround efficiency.
A station for the Automated People Mover (APM) has also been built, and once the APM begins operation, it will connect the rental car center with the terminals in about 10 minutes. This will eliminate the need for 3,200 shuttle bus trips per day.
