Uber Technologies will acquire Blacklane, a major premium ride service provider.
Blacklane was founded in Berlin, Germany, in 2011. The company operates services in more than 500 cities across over 60 countries worldwide, matching travelers with independent local chauffeur and transfer services.
Uber Technologies had announced its chauffeur-driven ride service “Uber Elite.” Executive-focused services are a rapidly growing segment, with advance bookings showing particularly strong growth.
Subject to approval by the relevant authorities and other conditions, the acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
