Qatar Civil Aviation Authority to Gradually Resume Foreign Airlines’ Flights to Doha Hamad International Airport
Safran Seats and RAVE Aerospace have unveiled their joint vision for the future of premium air travel, called “Origin.” The concept was announced in conjunction with the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) held in Hamburg, Germany.
The concept consists of the seat and in-flight entertainment system, with an immersive display concept at its core. Its most distinctive feature is a U-shaped micro-LED screen that wraps around the spacious seat, allowing passengers to enjoy dynamic visual technology.
For example, passengers can easily control their own experience by transforming the space from a work area into a calm environment for relaxation, or by enjoying a highly immersive, home-theater-like visual experience. During rest and relaxation, virtual windows simulating the sound of the ocean and a gentle breeze help passengers unwind, while during work they can open multiple windows to multitask. Movies can be enjoyed with an audio experience that enhances immersion.
The pressure of the seat cushion is adjusted to match each body type, employing a fatigue-reduction system that alleviates discomfort during long flights. Research has shown that sitting in the same position for extended periods places pressure on specific parts of the body, causing discomfort. By adjusting the cushion, the pressure on the thighs and buttocks fits the body more naturally. This pressure is designed to change gradually during the flight.
In addition to a temperature control system that can both heat and cool, the latest version of “Euphony,” a seat-integrated audio technology also adopted on Japan Airlines (JAL) Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, is installed. A beverage cooler is also provided, and the area where the coaster is placed lights up when a drink is set down.
Overhead, a canopy display provides information such as flight details when requested. A large lockable closet can be secured by entering a PIN code on the display, reflecting attention to convenience.
A company representative described it as “a day to share our vision of the possible direction of future travel experiences,” adding that “some of these elements are already on the development roadmap, while others are far more forward-looking,” explaining that it represents a potential future that fuses current technology with future possibilities.
