JTB (Japan Travel Bureau) has announced a personnel change under which Mr. Tomo Aomi will assume the position of Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer.
After graduating from the Faculty of Commerce at Yokohama City University, Mr. Aomi joined the Japan Travel Bureau (now JTB) in April 1993. Beginning his career at the Sapporo branch, he worked in over-the-counter sales and outside sales before moving to the Hokkaido Sales Headquarters, where he was in charge of general affairs and human resources, as well as sales planning. At the JTB Group headquarters, he worked on marketing and corporate planning for the travel business and drove the expansion of the corporate business domain, including through the establishment of JTB Communication Design. After holding roles in corporate planning and business planning at the Hokkaido headquarters, JTB Communication Design headquarters, and the Corporate Business Headquarters, he went on to serve as Executive Officer, Director and Senior Executive Officer in charge of Corporate Strategy (CSO), and President of JTB Americas. He currently serves as Senior Executive Officer in charge of promoting JTB’s long-term vision strategy.
The appointment will be formally decided following the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders scheduled for June 30 and the Board of Directors meeting to be held immediately thereafter. Current Representative Director and President Mr. Eijiro Yamakita will become Representative Director and Chairman, while current Chairman of the Board Mr. Hiroyuki Takahashi will assume the role of Senior Advisor.
