Lufthansa Launches Stopover Program via Munich for Singapore–USA Routes
Major U.S. airlines are providing special support for users and ticket holders of Spirit Airlines, which has suspended its operations.
United Airlines is selling one-way tickets with capped fares for Spirit Airlines customers on flights to and from most cities served by Spirit Airlines. In most cases, the maximum fare is set at 199 U.S. dollars, and even on long-haul routes it is capped at 299 U.S. dollars or less, with a few exceptions. To help Spirit employees return home, United will allow them to use employee discount fares for two weeks, and will also give them priority consideration in its hiring process.
American Airlines is deploying larger aircraft and increasing frequencies on key routes in order to accommodate affected travelers. The airline will also hold recruitment events for Spirit employees in the coming weeks to support their reemployment.
JetBlue Airways has introduced a one-way rescue fare of 99 U.S. dollars for Spirit Airlines customers. JetBlue also unveiled plans to significantly expand its operations at Fort Lauderdale in the state of Florida, United States, and to launch 11 new routes there.
Use of the rescue fares offered by United Airlines and JetBlue Airways is subject to conditions, such as presenting proof that confirms an existing Spirit Airlines reservation.
