Visa Worldwide Japan and Sumitomo Mitsui Card will run the “[Up to 50% Cashback] Take the Train Too! Visa Discount Campaign with Contactless Payment” from May 1 to 31.
By registering your card number on the dedicated registration page “Visa Discount” (Visa-wari) and using registered Visa cards with contactless payment on eligible train lines, 30% of the usage amount will be refunded as cashback. The maximum cashback is 600 yen per card. Eligible cards are credit, debit, and prepaid cards for individual members issued by Sumitomo Mitsui Card that support Visa contactless payments.
Furthermore, by entering the campaign on the Sumitomo Mitsui Card campaign page with an eligible card and using Visa contactless payment via smartphone on eligible train lines, you will receive 20% cashback on the usage amount. The maximum total cashback is 500 yen. Eligible cards are individual credit cards issued by Sumitomo Mitsui Card that support Visa contactless payments; for Olive Flexible Pay, only usage in credit mode is eligible.
Eligible operators are railway companies across Japan, although some lines are excluded. Cases are not eligible when you board or alight at stations that do not support contactless payments and station staff collect cash, or when payment is not completed properly. Stations where contactless payment is available can be checked on each operator’s website.
