ANA to Introduce Recaro Seats in Premium Economy and Economy on Boeing 787-9 from 2026
The Lufthansa Group has placed an additional order for a total of 20 long-haul aircraft: Airbus A350-900s and Boeing 787-9s.
Based on a decision by the Executive Board, the Supervisory Board resolved to approve the order. The order consists of 10 aircraft of each type, to be delivered between 2032 and 2034. The catalog price is 7.7 billion US dollars.
The purpose of the order is to replace older-generation aircraft, and at this stage it has not yet been decided which airlines within the group or which hubs will receive the new aircraft.
Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), commented, “By ordering 20 additional long-haul aircraft, we are making a sustainable investment in the future of the Lufthansa Group. This is a clear commitment to the latest aircraft, top-quality service, and the further reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. State-of-the-art aircraft are the most powerful tool we have to make air travel more environmentally friendly. The latest Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft offer better fuel efficiency, lower noise levels, and reduced emissions compared to their predecessors. In this way, we are continuing the largest fleet modernization in our company’s history.”
