The Lufthansa Group will exercise its option to acquire a majority stake in ITA Airways.
The shareholding ratio is expected to increase by 49 percent to 90 percent. The acquisition price is 325 million euros, subject to approval by the European Commission and the United States Department of Justice. Completion of the acquisition is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
The Lufthansa Group and the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance had agreed on an option that would allow the Lufthansa Group to acquire an additional 49 percent stake. The Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance will continue to hold 10 percent, but there is a possibility that Lufthansa will acquire this remaining stake in 2028.
