Skymark’s First Boeing 737-8 for a Japanese Airline Arrives at Tokyo Haneda
Emirates has, for the first time, converted a two-class Airbus A380 aircraft (registration: A6-EUX) into a three-class configuration.
The cabin now features a total of 569 seats, comprising 76 in Business Class, 56 in Premium Economy Class, and 437 in Economy Class. New design elements have been introduced throughout the aircraft, including motifs inspired by the ghaf tree and premium wood finishes.
Emirates removed 120 Economy Class seats from the upper deck and added 74 seats in Business Class and Premium Economy Class. The Premium Economy Class cabin is arranged in a 2-3-2 configuration and is equipped with leg rests and footrests, six-way adjustable headrests, charging ports, side cocktail tables, and 13.3-inch monitors.
The retrofit work was carried out by Emirates Engineering, with around 50 engineers and technicians spending a total of approximately 35,000 hours on the project. Although the first conversion took about two months, Emirates plans to reduce the turnaround time to around 30 days by applying the know-how gained. All 15 two-class Airbus A380 aircraft are scheduled to be converted by the end of the year.
