Seibu Railway to Introduce New Reserved-Seat Train “Tokiiro” on the Shinjuku Line in Spring 2027
Kintetsu Railway (Kinki Nippon Railway) has begun operating its new “Series 6A” trains on the Minami Osaka Line, Yoshino Line, Nagano Line, and Gose Line from May 19.
The exterior features the same red-and-white two-tone color scheme as the Series 8A, which entered service in October 2024, giving the trains a friendly, approachable design. Inside the cars, Kintetsu has installed “Yasashiba” spaces that accommodate strollers and large luggage, as well as multipurpose restrooms.
The trains are equipped with individual door open/close buttons and “L/C seats,” which can be switched between longitudinal bench seating and transverse seating. Each car is also fitted with four security cameras.
Kintetsu plans to introduce a total of 20 cars: three 4-car trainsets in fiscal 2026 and two 4-car trainsets in fiscal 2027.
