Rakuten Group will newly add three local governments to its lineup of municipal travel support coupons on its travel booking service “Rakuten Travel” and begin distributing them from June 1.
This initiative utilizes the Japanese government’s FY2026 Priority Support Local Grant, and the number of municipalities issuing travel coupons via Rakuten Travel between April and June has roughly doubled compared to the same period last year.
From June 1, new coupons will be issued by three local governments in Japan: Iwate Prefecture (up to JPY 15,000 discount), Miyazaki Prefecture (30% discount), and Kotohira Town in Kagawa Prefecture (up to JPY 10,000 discount). In addition, Akita Prefecture (up to JPY 12,000 discount) will also start additional distribution on the same day.
As a result, as of June 1, coupons will be available in a total of 17 municipalities in Japan, including Shizuoka Prefecture’s Ito City (up to JPY 5,000 discount), Gero City in Gifu Prefecture (JPY 4,500 discount), Shimane Prefecture / Hagi-Iwami Airport (up to JPY 12,000 discount), Niigata Prefecture (20% discount), Hachijojima in Tokyo (up to JPY 9,000 discount), Saga Prefecture (20% discount), Kamogawa City in Chiba Prefecture (up to JPY 10,000 discount), the “Shimatabi” program in Nagasaki Prefecture (up to JPY 6,000 discount), Yubara Onsen in Okayama Prefecture (up to JPY 4,000 discount), Shirahama Town in Wakayama Prefecture (up to JPY 9,000 discount), Matsue City in Shimane Prefecture (up to JPY 6,000 discount), Fukuoka Prefecture (up to JPY 6,000 discount), and Kagoshima Prefecture (20% discount).
Municipal coupons can be combined with coupons independently offered by Rakuten Travel or individual accommodation facilities. Usage conditions are set by each municipality.
