Hoshino Resorts will open “KAI Miyajima” on July 23.
This will be the first Hoshino Resorts property in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. The ryokan-style hot spring resort will feature a total of 54 guest rooms: 4 special rooms, 26 Japanese-style rooms with open-air baths, 4 Japanese-style rooms with terraces, 18 Japanese-style rooms, and 2 dog-friendly rooms. Of these, 30 rooms are equipped with open-air baths. The property will also offer a local-themed room called “Umigiri no Ma” (Room of Sea Fog), decorated with curtains depicting the scenery of Japan’s Seto Inland Sea. Cushions made from Fukuyama denim and lighting fixtures crafted from Aji glass will create a space where guests can experience regional Japanese craftsmanship.
Facilities inside the property include a large public bath on the top floor with views of the Seto Inland Sea and surrounding mountains, indoor baths with “hot water” and “lukewarm water,” a stone bath that recreates an ancient Japanese-style sauna, a dining area, a shop, and more.
For dining, the resort will serve a kaiseki course called “Aki no Kaiyū Kaiseki,” inspired by ingredients from Hiroshima, such as lemons and oysters. The menu will include dishes such as “tarte citron,” “Suigun Nabe,” a hot pot simmered with octopus, seaweed, sea bream, and other ingredients, and a Mont Blanc dessert styled to resemble Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake).
