JR Central Unveils “Sparkling Dreams Shinkansen” for Tokyo DisneySea 25th Anniversary
Seibu Railway will begin operating a refurbished sightseeing train using its 10000 series “New Red Arrow” fleet from fiscal year 2028.
The 10000 series “New Red Arrow” is scheduled to end its regular service in spring 2027 to coincide with the start of operation of the new Tokiiro limited express. After that, one set (train set 10112) will undergo refurbishment work and will be operated on the Seibu Shinjuku Line as a sightseeing limited express starting in fiscal year 2028. In addition to the section between Seibu-Shinjuku Station and Hon-Kawagoe Station, through services with JR East Japan are also planned.
The train’s exterior design will be supervised by Kunio Okawara. Inside, in addition to standard seating, the cars will feature a special atmosphere with semi-private compartments and sofa seats, and a new bar counter will be installed to serve light meals and drinks. Details such as the train’s official name and onboard services will be announced once they are decided.
