Etihad Airways Deploys Airbus A380 on Tokyo Narita–Abu Dhabi Route for the First Time in Japan
Shin Nihonkai Ferry has postponed the entry into service of its new vessel “Hamanasu” for the time being.
Although it was scheduled to operate on the Maizuru–Otaru route from June 29, defects were identified during construction and delivery of the hull is now expected to be delayed. The sailings that were to be operated by “Hamanasu” will instead be operated by “Akashia,” and reservations will be transferred in sequence. The alternative vessel will not offer the “au Starlink Ferry Wi-Fi” service.
After the transfer, passengers are asked to confirm their new reservation details, and if the fare amount changes, settlement procedures will be required. If passengers wish to cancel due to the change of vessel, refunds will be processed free of charge. To change sailings, passengers must first cancel and then make a new reservation. In principle, reservations will be transferred to the same class of accommodation, but “State S with Pet Room” reservations will be transferred to “State B,” and only for affected passengers will pets be allowed to stay in the same private cabin.
The onboard tour that was scheduled to be held at Osaka Port on June 27 will also be postponed. The company will announce, as soon as they are decided, both the start date for accepting new reservations and how sailings departing on or after July 17 will be handled.
Hamanasu is 199 meters in overall length, with a gross tonnage of approximately 14,300 tons. It has a passenger capacity of 286 and can carry around 150 trucks and 30 passenger cars. The interior design is based on the concepts of Hokkaido and nature, and incorporates names and design elements derived from Hokkaido and the city of Otaru throughout the vessel, including the restaurant “Kuki,” which offers seasonal fair menus, and the two-deck atrium forward lounge “Sekka.” The vessel is being built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Shimonoseki Shipyard.
