Club Tourism, with the cooperation of Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central), will operate on July 20 a tour titled “Tokaido Main Line: A Day in Shizuoka – Experiencing Shizuoka’s Everyday Life and Behind-the-Scenes by 373 Series,” which allows participants to experience the Shizuoka area of the Tokaido Main Line both in daily operation and from behind the scenes.
The train will depart Shizuoka Station at 8:31 a.m., and via Atami Station will enter the washing track at Numazu Station, the passing sidings at Shizuoka Freight Station and Nishi-Hamamatsu Station, undergo a body-wash experience using washing equipment and enter the inspection depot at the Shizuoka Rolling Stock Depot, then enter and perform shunting at the west stabling tracks at Hamamatsu Station. Participants will disembark at Kikugawa Station, where a new station building opened in March 2026, and receive a warm welcome from Kikugawa City, before proceeding via JR Freight’s Nishi-Hamamatsu Station, Arai-cho Station, and the west stabling tracks at Hamamatsu Station to arrive at Hamamatsu Station at 6:08 p.m.
At the Numazu Station washing track, the Shizuoka Rolling Stock Depot, and the west stabling tracks at Hamamatsu Station, there will be explanations provided by employees. The tour will operate with a six-car formation of Series 373 EMUs displaying the “Nice Holiday” destination sign, and on board the train conductors will provide commentary introducing sights along the line.
The tour price is 22,000 yen per person for the use of one seat, 33,000 yen per person for the use of two seats, and 49,000 yen per person for the use of four seats in a semi-compartment. Staff members from Club Tourism’s Railway Department will accompany the tour.
