On June 26, Japanese low-cost carrier Peach Aviation and Kinokawa City in Wakayama Prefecture held their early-summer annual event “Peachful Day – Delivering Seasonal ‘Deliciousness’ with Love –” at Terminal 2 of Kansai International Airport (KIX).
This joint event with Kinokawa City, which has been held since Peach’s launch and marked its 15th edition this year, was renamed from the previous “Share Peach Day” to “Peachful Day.” For the first time, it was organized in two parts, and the venue was moved from last year’s international arrivals area to the domestic departures and arrivals areas.
In the first part, a free tasting of the drink “Wakayama Prefecture ‘Flying Arakawa Peach’” was held for the first time next to the domestic flight departure counters. In the second part, passengers arriving on domestic flights at Kansai International Airport were each given one whole freshly picked peach grown in Kinokawa City as a present. In addition to staff from Kinokawa City Hall, cabin crew and flight crew members took part, as did “Kinokawa Purupuru Musume (Momo Puru),” the fruit character of the Kinokawa Fruit Tourism Association.
The peaches distributed this time were early-maturing varieties called “Kinosato Hakuhō” and “Hikawa Hakuhō,” known for their fine texture, softness, and juiciness, which can be enjoyed from around mid-June. The gifts were handed out on a total of six flights, reaching approximately 900 passengers.
