Kura Sushi to Open First Southeast Asia Location in Bangkok in 2027
Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art, The Asahi Shimbun Company, and Asahi Broadcasting Television will change the ticket sales method for the exhibition “Vermeer: Girl with a Pearl Earring.”
They will discontinue first-come, first-served general sales for the first to third exhibition periods, and instead conduct a lottery sale for regular tickets covering the entire exhibition period via Ticket Pia from July 14 to 21. Same-day ticket sales will not be offered; however, depending on sales status and other factors, additional tickets may be released through Ticket Pia by lottery.
In June, an advance lottery was already held via Ticket Pia, and a resale service will also be available for tickets purchased through both the advance lottery and the general lottery. Although advance sales were conducted through tabiwa on June 15, many people were unable to purchase tickets due to heavy access concentration.
In addition to the representative work “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer and his early work “Diana and Her Nymphs,” the exhibition will feature Jan Steen’s “As the Old Sing, So Pipe the Young,” Paulus Potter’s “Cows Reflected in the Water,” and Maria van Oosterwijck’s “Flowers in a Decorative Vase.”
All of these works are housed in the Mauritshuis in The Hague, Netherlands, and 2 of the 3 Vermeer works in its collection will be exhibited in Japan. As the Mauritshuis is temporarily closed for renovation work, this showing in Japan has been made possible. This will be the first time in 14 years that “Girl with a Pearl Earring” comes to Japan, since the 2012 “Mauritshuis Exhibition.” Director Martine Gosselink of the Mauritshuis commented, “This ‘girl’s’ journey is a special opportunity that will probably be the last chance to send her to everyone in Japan.”
The exhibition “Vermeer: Girl with a Pearl Earring” will be held at the Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art from August 21 to September 27. Opening hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
