Nippon Rent-A-Car Service introduced a smartphone-based check-in and queue management system on July 8.
Customers can complete check-in by holding their smartphones over a ticketing panel installed at the branch, and can view their place in the queue and call status in real time. By standardizing the check-in process, the company aims to reduce queues forming in front of counters during busy periods. Reducing in-person calls also takes privacy and hygiene into consideration.
The company has also launched a service that streamlines counter procedures. Customers can significantly simplify procedures at branch counters by meeting four requirements: downloading the official app, joining the Members Club, paying by credit card when making an online reservation, and completing driver’s license registration in the app. Eligible users include individual members as well as users under corporate contracts that have switched to the app service. The service has initially been introduced at 65 locations across Japan and will be expanded gradually.
