Japan Airlines (JAL) will ferry its 10th Airbus A350-1000 aircraft (registration: JA10WJ), which was damaged in a collision with another airline’s aircraft and had been withdrawn from service, to Japan.
At around 12:40 a.m. on December 14, 2025, the right main wing of another airline’s aircraft being towed came into contact with the JAL aircraft, which was parked in its designated location for maintenance work. The collision damaged the left cockpit windows and other areas. The aircraft had operated as JL4 from Tokyo/Haneda to New York/John F. Kennedy on December 3 and had since been parked at John F. Kennedy Airport.
Based on Airbus technical approval, maintenance work was completed locally in coordination with aviation authorities. On July 29 local time, a post-maintenance check flight was conducted.
