WestJet Flight Attendants Go on Strike
The Qantas Group and Japan Airlines (JAL) have entered into a binding agreement regarding changes to the shareholder structure of Jetstar Japan.
The Qantas Group will sell its 33.32% stake through a share buyback by Jetstar Japan. Development Bank of Japan (DBJ) will invest as a new shareholder, while JAL and Tokyo Century will maintain their existing ownership ratios. The sale is expected to be completed by June 2027. Jetstar Japan plans to transition to a new brand and will announce the new brand as early as October.
The transaction is valued at 8.2 billion yen, and the Qantas Group expects to record a profit of approximately AUD 115 million. The funds will be directed toward the operations of Qantas Airways and Jetstar Airways.
There will be no impact on Qantas Airways and Jetstar Airways international services connecting Australia and Japan, nor on their codeshare arrangements with JAL.
