JR East Suspends Banetsu West Line Service Between Inawashiro and Aizu-Wakamatsu
Kurobe Gorge Railway will resume operations on its entire line on October 1.
Service between Nekomata and Keyakidaira stations had been suspended due to rockfall damage on Mt. Higashi-Kanetsuri caused by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake. Starting with the first train from Unazuki to Keyakidaira on October 1, operations will resume on the full line between Unazuki and Keyakidaira stations. From October 1, boarding and alighting will be available at Unazuki, Kuronagi, Kanetsuri, and Keyakidaira stations; boarding and alighting at Nekomata Station will not be available.
Even after boarding and alighting resumes at Keyakidaira Station, restricted areas will remain in place in the Keyakidaira sightseeing area due to construction work. For the time being, visitors will not be able to enter areas other than the Keyakidaira Station building and Visitor Center. In addition, the number of passengers accepted for trains to Keyakidaira Station will be limited to ensure safety and ease congestion.
Reservations for travel from September 1 through November 30 will be accepted from 9 a.m. on July 8. Reservations for travel between Unazuki and Kuronagi or Kanetsuri stations can be made online or by telephone, while reservations between Unazuki and Keyakidaira stations can be made by telephone. Reservations can be made from three months before the travel date.
