Transport for London (TfL) has granted private hire vehicle licenses to several of Wayve’s self-driving Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles.
Uber Technologies and Wayve will offer the service to a limited number of registered users in London later this summer, ahead of its wider public rollout.
Under the government’s Code of Practice for Automated Vehicle Trialling and Uber’s TfL private hire operator license, the vehicle will handle the driving, while a qualified private hire driver will ride in the vehicle to supervise.
