Emirates and South African Airways will expand their codeshare partnership.
Nine routes will be added, including three domestic South African routes operated by South African Airways connecting Johannesburg with Cape Town, Durban, and Port Elizabeth, as well as six routes connecting Johannesburg with Kinshasa, Gaborone, Windhoek, Lusaka, Harare, and Victoria Falls. This will improve connecting convenience to Central and Southern Africa.
The two airlines have maintained a partnership for nearly 30 years since 1997. Emirates began serving South Africa in 1995 and currently operates 56 weekly round trips to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban. The expanded partnership will improve access in response to strong travel demand to South Africa, particularly from Europe and other regions.
