Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs Approves Introduction and Changes to Accommodation Taxes in Seven Municipalities and Tokyo
Kintetsu Group Holdings, JR Central, and Nara Prefecture are displaying a half-scale model of the Ishibutai Tomb at Tokyo Station to commemorate the World Heritage inscription of Nara Prefecture’s “Asuka-Fujiwara: Archaeological Sites of Japan’s Ancient Capitals.”
The Ishibutai Tomb is a kofun burial mound representing the Asuka area and one of Japan’s largest square burial mounds, constructed by stacking more than 30 massive stones. It is widely believed to be the tomb of Soga no Umako, a powerful clan leader of the Asuka period. The display is located in the event space of the Yaesu Concourse and will run through August 30.
In addition to the reconstructed model of the Ishibutai Tomb, the venue features key visuals from Kintetsu Group’s Nara tourism campaign, “I’m on Team Nara.” Asuka-Fujiwara edition, and JR Central’s “Let’s Go to Nara” Asuka edition. It also introduces congratulatory messages on the World Heritage inscription from actress Anne and actor Ryohei Suzuki, who appear in the respective campaigns.
Kintetsu Group launched the autumn 2026 campaign of “I’m on Team Nara.” featuring Anne on August 5. The fifth installment is set in the Asuka-Fujiwara area and introduces the Ishibutai Tomb, Tachibana-dera Temple, the Fujiwara Palace Site, and other locations.
