Thai AirAsia will increase the number of domestic flights in Thailand.
From October 1, it will resume direct flights between Bangkok/Don Mueang and 22 cities, as well as direct flights between Bangkok/Suvarnabhumi and the three cities of Phuket, Krabi, and Chiang Mai. This will expand its domestic capacity in Thailand to a maximum of 135 round trips per day, an increase of more than 50% compared with the third quarter, when the daily average peaked at 88 round trips.
At its main Don Mueang hub, the airline will increase frequencies on high-demand routes. Chiang Mai services will operate up to 17 round trips per day, Phuket up to 15, and Hat Yai up to 9. In addition, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Krabi, and Chiang Rai will each be served by up to 6 round trips per day, while Ubon Ratchathani will have up to 5. From October 1, services to and from Suvarnabhumi will operate 6 daily round trips to Chiang Mai, 5 to Phuket, and 2 to Krabi.
The airline will also launch new routes linking its Phuket base with northeastern Thailand. From October 25, it will operate the Phuket–Khon Kaen route up to 3 times a week and the Phuket–Udon Thani route up to 4 times a week.
CEO Phairat Phonphatanangoon commented that, while the airline has adjusted its schedule in response to rising aviation fuel prices and temporary fluctuations in travel demand, the outlook for the fourth quarter is favorable. He said that Thailand’s domestic tourism industry is expected to recover through early 2027, supported by the high season and tourism promotion measures by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
