American Airlines Moves Up Tokyo/Narita–Chicago O’Hare Route Launch to March 19, 2027

American Airlines has moved up the launch date of its Tokyo/Narita–Chicago O’Hare route to March 19, 2027. It had originally planned to launch the route on March 27, 2027.

The airline will operate one round-trip flight per day. It will use a Boeing 787-9 aircraft configured with 285 seats: 30 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy Class, 34 in Main Cabin Extra, and 200 in Main Cabin. Flight time will be 12 hours and 30 minutes from Tokyo/Narita and 12 hours and 55 minutes from Chicago O’Hare.

The schedule will allow connections to JAL-operated flights from Tokyo/Narita to Bangkok, Singapore, Taipei/Taoyuan, Ho Chi Minh City, and other destinations.

With American Airlines launching the route, JAL will suspend its service on the same route. However, both airlines will operate one daily round-trip flight until March 27.
