JR East View Tourism & Sales will operate the “Unprecedented! Witness the Crimson Streamliner” special train on November 14.
An E6 Series train, which normally operates on the Tohoku and Akita Shinkansen lines, will make a one-way journey between Morioka, Omiya, Gala Yuzawa, and Niigata stations. This will be the first time that an E6 Series revenue-service train has operated between Omiya, Gala Yuzawa, and Niigata stations, and the first time it has entered Gala Yuzawa Station. At Fukushima Station, the train will stop at the platform being constructed for the inbound approach line of the Yamagata Shinkansen. Capacity is 178 passengers, with a minimum of 160 participants required.
At Gala Yuzawa Station, an event will feature the E6 and E7 Series trains lined up side by side, allowing passengers to photograph them from the platform against a backdrop of autumn foliage. After departing Omiya Station, passengers will receive an ekiben boxed meal with a wrapper designed by JR East employees, as well as an original aluminum spoon made in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, and a commemorative ticket in the style of a traditional hard ticket.
The travel package will be sold online only from 2:00 p.m. on September 18 through November 4. Prices are 55,000 yen for adults and 45,000 yen for elementary school students and younger under the standard ordinary-car plan; 60,000 yen for adults and 50,000 yen for elementary school students and younger under the guaranteed window-seat plan; and 70,000 yen for adults and 60,000 yen for elementary school students and younger in the Green Car. All prices include tax.
