Vietjet Air will introduce in-flight Wi-Fi service using Starlink, the low Earth orbit satellite communications service provided by SpaceX.
In the initial phase, the service will be installed on a total of 120 aircraft: 100 Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 aircraft, and 20 Airbus A330 aircraft. It will also be installed on all aircraft delivered in the future. The service will be available free of charge.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Vietnamese and U.S. government officials and business representatives, coinciding with Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam’s official visit to the United States.
Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite communications service is characterized by high-speed, low-latency connectivity. Airlines that have already introduced Starlink include ZIPAIR Tokyo, Qatar Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, and United Airlines.
