ANA Offers Reduced-Mileage International Award Ticket Campaign
Alaska Air Group will expand “Atmos Rewards,” the mileage program of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
From October 1, members will be able to choose from three ways to earn points and status points for flights departing on or after January 1, 2027: “distance flown,” “amount spent,” or “number of flight segments.” The company says this is the first time an airline mileage program has allowed members to choose how they earn points on flights. Selection is optional, and existing members who do not make a selection will continue earning based on distance flown. For new members joining on or after January 1, 2027, earning based on amount spent will be the default setting. The earning method can be changed once a year.
Also from October 1, “Atmos Communities” will expand from the current two to six. In addition to the existing “Club 49” and “Huakaʻi by Hawaiian,” the program will introduce “Global Locals” for international travel, “Families on the Go” for family travel, “Culinary Journeys” for food experiences, and “Active Escapes” for outdoor activities. Benefits include free checked bags, exclusive fares, bonus point challenges, discounted award tickets for children, and bonus status points when traveling internationally.
“Atmos Members Day” will be held on the first Wednesday of every month, offering exclusive travel offers and the latest program updates. In the lifestyle sector, partnerships with Alterra Mountain Company, Nordstrom, and Pebble Beach Resorts are planned.
For elite members, beginning November 2, Platinum and Titanium members will be able to bring an eligible child and one accompanying guest into Premium Class free of charge, subject to seat availability.
According to Alaska Air Group, since the launch of Atmos Rewards, the number of active members has been growing at roughly four times the previous rate, while the average member age is below 40. More than half of new status members are from Generation Z.
